Celebrating 40 Years!


2019/20 This season we are adding a new Airstream food service trailer on the patio. 75 new LED lights will be in use on the hill along with LED lights in the parking lot. The paved parking area has been increased. We’ve changed the location of some snowguns and added 6 new guns to improve snowmaking on lower Center Stage and Audition. A new Magic Carpet lift in the learn-to-turn area will replace an existing one, and it will be re-oriented to improve ease of use. The rental shop has 3400 pairs of new Rossi adult skis and bindings this season, replacing the entire fleet! The tubing area received 180 new tubes, and a kitchen upgrade. Also, we will open our new Ski Patrol Base and Training Center next to the Maintenance Building this season.

Opening Day was December 9th


2018/19 This season we added 8 new SMI polecat snowguns, a new PistenBully 400 Snow Cat and new PistenBully 400 Winch Cat. We improved flow, drainage and safety on Super Slide and Ski Wiz with new berm, and added digital signage on the Red Chair. Rental Shop got 720 pairs of new kids’ skis and bindings, 550 pairs of kids’ ski boots, and added 850 new Giro helmets.

Season Ran From

2017/18 The lodge was refreshed with new carpeting, kitchen improvements, and more outside landscaping. The rental shop got 862 new helmets, 1336 pairs of new snowboard boots, 670 pairs of snowboard bindings, and 335 sets of new poles. Helmets are now included with every rental purchase. The top of the tubing area was rebuilt this season. We installed a retaining wall, enlarged the staging area and added super lanes. We also added 400 new snow tubes to the fleet. During the 2018 Olympics in South Korea, Lawrenceburg native Nick Goepper won the Silver Medal in the Men’s Slopestyle. He gave PNS several shout outs from the Olympics. We welcomed him back to the ski area with a special event in March.

Opened on December 10, 2016


2016/17 A beautiful new outdoor patio was built next to the East Lodge with weekend food service & gas fire pits. Relocated season lockers. Expanded seating upstairs in East Lodge next to the Loft Shop, and upgraded restrooms on lower level deck. We doubled our helmet fleet, and included helmets to the season rental package. The Rental Shop was expanded for self-service helmets & additional retail area in former locker room. Re-oriented the Tech Shop in the main lodge lower level. Outside updates include a new compressor building, relocated dumpster area, and new lighting & flagpoles on the entrance lane. We re-painted red & orange chairlifts, and also rebuilt the tubing carpet deck, and added new stain. New offers included new smaller group discount options, online discounted tubing tickets, and discounted print-at-home tickets. Also utilized Enhanced electronic waiver integration. Hosted a Spartan Race for the first time.

The season started rather
late on December 22


2015/16 The Spring Carnival was on March 6th, which was also the last day of the season. For this season, we purchased 3,000 Pairs Head BYS Ski Boots, and helmets for Club use. A new Cappuccino / Coffee Machine was installed, and Mini-Donuts were introduced at the coffee corner. New Windows were installed in the East & West Lodges. This season we offered a Pass Payment Program and utilized Biometrics / Pass Pickup. The new PNS App features push notifications and friend finder. Select trees were treated for the Emerald Ash Borer, but those that couldn’t be saved had to be taken down. 11 New SMI Super Polecats were installed on the slopes and the snowsports meeting area was widened as well as Runway and Intermission. A New PistenBully 400 arrived, and we saw new lighting, and snowmaking on the West Runs. Ski instructors, lift attendants and tubing staff all sported new jackets this year.

2014/15 The old maintenance building was torn down, and the beginner area enlarged with an additional run “Understudy” and magic carpet. Added blacktop surface to the entire parking with a new one-way traffic pattern. Built new decorative planter beds across the front of the lodge and installed an automatic door on the breezeway in the lodge. This season a huge, new maintenance building was erected by the lake for the snowcats. We purchased 1100 new snowboards, 1000 new helmets and 1500 new ski poles in the rental department. At tubing we added festive string lights to the courtyard and replaced 550 tube bottoms.

We saw a record amount of natural snowfall this season


2013/14 The most visible change this season was the new 5,000 sq. ft. deck expansion covered with durable, rubber tiles. We also added 24 new picnic tables for use on the deck, moved the grill to a new location and added an outside food service window. The move was made to make the lodge “equipment free” and a complimentary ski check was built on the lower level. We saw a record amount of natural snowfall this season. We participated in a parade on March 8 for Olympic Bronze medalist Nick Goepper. Spring Carnival was on Sunday, March 9th and the last day of the season was March 15, 2014.

2012/13 On-Hill improvements an expanded and improved Jam Session terrain park, 10 new SMI snowguns, 7 new Viking snowguns, and a Formatic Snow Cat. We also added more outdoor digital signage and planted another 100 trees. In the Rental Shop, we added 1000 new pairs of Rossignol skis and bindings. Helmet rental was lowered to just $5. The WiFi in the lodge was improved and we introduced a print at home ticket.

2011/12 This season we introduced an android phone app. On the hill this season, we planted 100 new trees, re-graded and widened Far Side and added 14 snowguns to that area. There was an expansion of the learn-to-turn/beginner area and a re-alignment of Magic Carpet 4. The Main Lodge food service was updated with 7 digital menu boards, and new oven, new fryer, 30 butcher-block logo tables and 100 chairs. Rental shop added items in the kid’s area including 700 pairs of new Rossignol skis and bindings, 540 pairs of New Dalbello Kids Ski Boots, and 350 pairs of new kids’ poles. 750 helmets were also purchased. The tubing area expanded with a new separate ticketing sales tent, a group tent, and a kid’s area party tent. Additional retail space was added, along with boot rental.

21 New Polecat and Super Polecat Snow Guns were added this season


2010/11 A PistenBully 600 was added to our grooming fleet, and it was fresh from use at the Olympics! Backstage got a makeover including re-grading, new snowmaking and all new lighting. Adding a gravel shoulder widened the entrance road, and parking was expanded. Tubing received new lockers and public Wi-Fi. In the Rental Shop, we added 1200 Pair of New Rossi Snowboard Boots, 900 Pair of New Snowboard Bindings, 250 New Rossi Snowboards, 125 Pair of New Head Ski Boots, 1400 Pair of New Composite Ski Poles, and 200 New Smith Helmets. Inside the lodge was refreshed with new carpet and fresh paint in the East Lodge, new tile in Main Lodge rest rooms, 100 new chairs, a new broiler and two new pizza ovens in the kitchen. A new “Introduce Your Child to Skiing” Package was available.

This season marks our 30th
year in business!


2009/10 Changes this year start off with widening and landscaping the entrance lane. The rental shop received a face-lift with new paint and shelving, and 300 new sets of skis. Snowmaking system improved with two re-conditioned water pumps and 5 new SMI polecat snowguns. The area at the top of the Orange chairlift has been widened and snowmaking added. A new run off “Runway” will add to the skiable area off the Orange Chair. Several 30th Anniversary specials offered for the first time including free “introductory skier and boarder” lessons with every lift ticket purchase. Snow Tubing admission will also be included with daily lift ticket and season pass purchases.

Our rental fleet grew


2008/09 This season we introduced a new rental system including 3000 pairs Head E-Z-On Boots, 1000 pairs Rossignol Skis, 400 pairs Graphite Poles, 100 Rossignol Snowboards and 50 pairs Rossignol Snowboard Boots. The 15,000 sq ft rental shop now holds 4000 pairs of skis, and 1000 snowboards. The main lodge was updated with a new Coffee Corner offering pastries along with hot beverages. The Tubing Park got a new kitchen and expanded menu including pizza. There were many improvements and upgrades outside including 100 new pine trees, additional snowmaking lines and pump, and re-grading of several runs. More terrain park rails were built, along with additional lighting and web cams.

New Pass Option


2007/08 Installed new metal roofing on both the Main Lodge, and the West Lodge and restrooms in the East Lodge were remodeled. The area at the top of the White and Red Chairlifts has been widened and reshaped. 12 new SMI Super Polecats have been installed in this section, along with 5 new SMI snowguns on Deception. In the Rental Shop, we added 500 new skis and 150 new snowboards to the rental inventory as well as new carpeting in the lower level. At the Snow Tubing Park there is a new office building, and 250 new tubes to rent. A “Gold Lite” Season Pass was offered for the first time this season for weekdays only.

Major Tubing Expansion


2006/07 Several major improvements were completed at the tubing hill this season including 10 additional lanes and a new tent with inside ticket sales and food service. We also added 200 new hard-bottomed tubes, more paved parking and a larger restroom facility at tubing hill. A new sound system throughout main lodge, rental shop, and on the outside deck was installed. The beginner area got bigger again with a new 260' magic carpet and more lighting. Added 500 sets of new rental skis, 150 new rental snowboards and 12 new SMI super polecat snowguns.

November Opening!


2005/06 Area opened on Friday, November 25th for skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing. This Thanksgiving weekend opening marked the earliest start date at the resort in its history. Clyde’s Super Slide was widened and re-graded and Wi-Fi became available throughout the lodge. 15 new snowguns were added. A new flex rental program was established. Resurfaced and expanded parking area with improved lighting and enlarged the drop-off and unloading area. We added 500 new ski and snowboard rentals, and 300 new hard-bottom snow tubes.

Season ran from December 17 through March 20


2004/05 This year we doubled the size of the Tubing Park with more lanes, a second carpet lift, and a new ticket office. We also added more rental tubes for total of 1000. Purchased new PistenBully winch-cat for grooming steep runs, and re-graded and increased snowmaking on “Far Side.”

Beginner Area Expansion


2003/04 Major expansion and re-design of beginner/lesson area with two new carpet lifts. Widened the “Center Stage” run, and added “Hollywood” glade run. Added 24 new snowguns, a park bully snow groomer for terrain features, and 300 new paved parking spaces. New tubing “add on pass” available for ski/snowboard season passholders. Beautiful new stone fireplace added inside Main Lodge. Season lasted 85 days.

Snow Tubing Opens


2002/03 Snow Tubing Park opened with ten 700’ lanes, a Magic Carpet lift and 450 rental tubes. A two-hour tubing ticket is $18.00. Started using a Flex Ticket for skiing/snowboarding valid for 8 hours with a floating start time. A Perfect Debit Card option is now available along with Gold, Silver and Bronze passes. Opened snowboard rental shop with 350 boards. 100 helmets now available for rent.

Opened on December 26th, closed March 10


2001/02 Open for 75 days. Added snowboarding on February 1st after a 10-year absence. On Martin Luther King Holiday, we had to stop selling tickets before the 2:00 session when we ran out of rentals and parking. The Terrain Park moved to Audition with jumps, rails and boxes.

Over 100 Day Season


2000/01 Started skiing on November 30, for the earliest opening to date. The season lasted 101 days. Weekday lift tickets are now $35, and weekend tickets $40. Registered groups reached 1,046 for the season. Terrain Park opened on The Meadows and hosted a Big Air Competition with 22 competitors.

20th Anniversary


1999/2000 20th Anniversary celebrated at Perfect North Slopes. More snowguns were installed, and the entrance road improved. Added e-commerce capabilities to our web page for pass purchases. Upgraded computer pass system, including hard plastic photo cards.

3 New Runs Added


1998/1999 Three new ski runs added to the ski area, “Runway,” “Intermission,” and “Special Effects.” Opened 93 days this season, starting on December 18th. Added 1200 new, shaped skis, and 500 pairs of new boots in the rental department. Expanded customer service area at the main office. Held an Autumn Festival and Haunted Hayride during October. Season pass $420.00. Weekday lift: $30.00, Weekend lift: $35.00.

New Orange Chair Added


1997/1998 Chairlift #5 (Orange Chair) installed. Two new trails, “Showtime,” and “Encore” are opened. Weekday lift: $25.00, weekend lift ticket: $30.00. Added live snow camera to our web page to promote our snowmaking capabilities. Opened on December 5 for 96 days.

East Lodge Expansion


1996/97 Opened on December 10th, and lasted 81 days. A second addition (East Lodge) was built onto the lodge, housing more seating for the cafeteria. The upper level is the new home for the Loft Shop, now five times larger. Lower level in the new building is more space for the rental shop. 400 pairs of new rental skis, 1000 pairs of boots, and 50 sets of demo skis were added to upgrade the rental system. Changed regular closing time to 9:30pm. All-Night Ski sessions open until 3:00am. Launched www.perfectnorth.com website. Prior to season, finally won a zoning battle for future expansion.

Far Side Run Added


1995/96 “The Far Side,” opens giving skiers a mile long intermediate run. The season lasted 93 days. The 120 snowguns were used for 48 days during the winter. Two new Pisten Bully 280 snow groomers with flex tiller added to the grooming fleet. Five new programs offered this season to our customers. 1-hour group lesson: $8.00, and 1-hour private lesson: $25.00.

Our 15th Anniversary


1994/95 Chairlift #4 (White Chair) installed up the right side of Center Stage, our first quad chair. New run, “Hoyt Connection” opened this season. Weekday lift: $20.00; weekend lift: $30.00. Rentals $14.00 all sessions. New computerized ticketing system installed. Loft Shop now selling ski/boot packages, located in the loft of the west lodge. New automated phone system installed. All Night Ski hours were 11:00pm – 3:00am; lift ticket $20.00.

Backstage Run Opens


1993/94 New intermediate run, “Backstage” opened. 20 new snowguns purchased, and several old ones put into retirement. Redesigned and enlarged the main office and added a group counter in the West Lodge. Established a no-smoking policy for the entire lodge. All Night Ski hours were 10:30pm – 3:00am; lift ticket $20.00. Weekday lift: $20.00; weekend lift $30.00. Changed opening time on Saturdays & Sundays to 9:00am.

Main Lodge Expansion


1992/93 Added a 28,000 square foot lodge expansion (Main Lodge), more than doubling the size of the lodge. This “new lodge” designated as no-smoking area. 800 additional pairs of rental skis and boots added to new 10,000 sq.ft. rental shop. New food service area opened in the Main Lodge. Entrance road to ski area paved. Courtesy Staff established. PNS Ski Patrol won the National Outstanding Ski Patrol award.

More Snowguns Added


1991/92 New locker room built with season locker rental available. New race area in use this season. 10 new snowguns added bringing the total to approximately 85 guns. Season pass $320.00. Snowboards were banned starting this season.

Clyde's Super Slide Run Added


1990/91 New run cut from Chair #3, Clyde’s Super Slide. 25 new tower-mounted snowguns were added. The season started on December 10, and lasted 92 days.

10th Anniversary


1989/90 10th Anniversary of skiing was celebrated at PNS. A third PistenBully purchased. Our full-service repair shop opens. Center Stage widened. “Elite Line” high-performance rentals available. New passes offered: weekday season pass, twilight ticket. Weekday lift: $17.00; weekend lift: $25.00. All Night Ski session 11:00pm – 4:00am, lift $17 and rental $10.00. Season pass $275.00. Had the first slush jump competition at the Spring Carnival. Hosted a weeklong ski trip to Aspen/Snowmass at end of March for $889.

Doubled Snowmaking Capacity


1988/89 Second PistenBully snow groomer purchased. A 24-hour snow report recording system was installed. Season pass: $275.00. Doubled snowmaking capacity, and began to use Snowmax snow inducer system. Added 360 new rental skis. The “Loft Shop” opened selling ski accessories. It was located in the upstairs corner of the west lodge, which is now an office. Weekday lift: $15.00, Weekend lift: $20.00. Hired full-time ski school director/group coordinator.

Our Largest Expansion!


1987/88 Chairlift #3 (Red Chair) was installed to the top of the hill increasing vertical drop to 400’. “Center Stage,” “Tuff Enuff,” and “Deception” opened this winter with tower-mounted snowguns. A new PistenBully snow groomer with power tiller was operation this season. Two new rope tows were added. The original snowmaking lake was drained and filled in with dirt to make room for Chair #3. A new pump house was built on the new lake. Season pass was $230.00. All Night Ski: lift $15.00, and rental $10.00. 250 sets of step-in rentals added. Christmas Race Camp started by Rob Bates and George Goodrich. Weekend lift ticket: $20.00, rental $10.00. Built brick wall for entrance sign on lane. The 5-lift pass was $60.00. New passes this season were the Once-a-Week pass, and the All Night Ski Season pass.

86 Day Season


1986/87 Sold 65 season passes this year. Added new ticket windows on the front porch of lodge. Bought the first IBM computer for the office. Cincinnati’s Moeller High School ski team won the High School Race. The season opened on December 13, and closed on March 8 for an 86-day ski season.

New Green Chair


1985/86 Chairlift #2 (Green Chair) installed on new, lower terrain on the west side of the ski area, redefining the entire beginner area. 350 new skis added to our inventory. First direct mail newsletter, “Snowscene” was mailed to our customers. NASTAR racing offered this season. First High School Invitational race held with the Lawrenceburg team winning.

First Chairlift Installed


1984/85 First Chairlift installed on Audition in front of ski lodge (Blue Chair). John Lee was the first customer to ride the lift, and he later became a ski instructor. Ski School increased in size from 35 to 45 members. Ski Doodle Program for children introduced as a part of ski school. All-Night Ski sessions held on Fridays & Saturdays in January and February. 300 sets of rental equipment added to inventory making the step-in system our standard rental. The original Spademan binding system used for groups only. First section of deck attached to lodge, on the west end.

Open for 92 Days


1983/84 Skier visits: 13,725. First All Night Ski Sessions held. The season started on December 17, and ended on March 18th. Open for skiing 92 days.

Many Firsts


1982/83 First Annual Ski Swap & Open House held in November at ski area. Operating hours were M-F 10am – 10pm; Sat & Sun 9am – 10pm. The first Spring Carnival was held this year.

$20 Beginner Ticket


1981/82 The area opened on December 11 for the season. The Skiing Program started this year as a 5-week progressive lesson series to increase skier base, and cost $65.00. Skier visits were 10,271. Weekday “tow pass” was $7.00, and rental was $7.00. Weekend and holiday adult rates were $10.00 for tows and $9.00 for rental. Beginner Special was $20.00 on Saturday & Sunday, and $15.00 during the week. That special included a tow pass, rental equipment, introductory lesson, and breakage insurance on the equipment. The lodge was available for rent during the off-season for dances, receptions, and reunions. Green Astro Turf was laid on the floor of lodge; bought used from Cincinnati’s Riverfront Stadium when the artificial turf was replaced on the field.

Season 1


1980/81 Construction began August of ‘80, and opened for the season on January 12, 1981. The lodge was built using old brick from Norwood Sash and Door in Cincinnati. Interior beams and siding were salvaged from local Indiana barns. PNS opened with 2 Stadeli cable tows and three rope tows on 150’ vertical drop. Snowmaking was done with 8 portable snowguns. 400 pairs of used rentals with Spademan bindings were in the basement rental shop. The tows and ski rentals were purchased from a defunct ski area in Tennessee. Weekday ticket: $7.00; rental: $7.00. Weekend ticket was $10.00 and rental $9.00. Hours: Monday through Thursday 10am – 10:30pm, Friday & Saturday 9am – 12:30, and Sunday hours were 9:00am – 10:00pm. Total attendance for the season was 6200 visits. Closed for the season on March 8.
